Geoff Williams, MD, FRCSC, ABO



Dr. Geoff Williams is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, operating out of the Rockyview General Hospital, and is the Medical Director of Southern Alberta Eye Center. He began his university education at the University of Calgary, graduating with a BSc in microbiology in 1982 and then his Medical degree in 1985. In 1990 he completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and then moved to New York City to complete a 2-year vitreoretinal fellowship at the Cornell University Medical Center, New York Hospital, New York.

Upon returning to Calgary, Dr. Williams set up practice as a retinal specialist. In 2000, he co-founded Calgary Retina Consultants and in 2010 the Southern Alberta Eye Centre. He has been Co-director of the Retina Fellowship Program at the University of Calgary since 1996 and remains active in the ophthalmology residency program in Calgary. Dr. Williams is a member of the Retina Society, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Canadian Retina Society, and the European Retina Society and is committed to research development. He has participated as a Principal Investigator or co-investigator in over 20 multicentre clinical research trials, and has authored 16 publications and over 40 presentations nationally and internationally.
